The second billionaire I met
When a self-made multi-billionaire shares his story, you pay attention.
Jack Cowin, Founder of the iconic Hungry Jacks, shared the following with us at the Forbes Icons and Investors Summit in Sydney:
- Jack started his remarkable entrepreneurial journey at age 25 when he got 30 Canadian people to lend him $10,000 each to buy his first franchise.
- That same $10,000 is worth $45 million today.
- Leverage the 3 Ps: People, Passion, Perseverance.
- Be prepared to take risks (if they don't kill you).
- Test your ideas.
- Take failure as a learning experience.
- Have the courage to change if it's not working.
- It's a team effort. You don't do it on your own.
- Recognise the talent of people that can work together.
- As an entrepreneur, figure out what you are good at and hire great people that can do the rest.
- Make sure you ENJOY what you do. "Life is an adventure".
- Keep being curious. (Jack spent the whole day with us and took notes ferociously even at 82 years of age and billions behind him)
- Never give up.
- FOCUS.
